Descripción general

Visiting Puno, Peru, means discovering its Andean culture, traditions, and customs, as well as experiencing the imposing Lake Titicaca—considered the sacred lake of the Incas and one of the most visited destinations in southern Peru.

Throughout history, most of the Uros floating islands were home to families belonging to various tribes, such as the Kollawas and other ethnic groups that inhabited the area surrounding the city of Puno.

Today, ancestral structures from these cultures can still be appreciated. Many of the families living on the islands of Lake Titicaca maintain their traditional customs, such as artisanal fishing, craft making, and the use of totora reeds, passed down since ancient times.
